Heart... Words, still
thought and written by humans for humans
No one would ever deny - translating is a sophisticated and responsible
task. This does not only apply to literary contents. Just think of an
interpreter in the field of political or economic meetings, whoose work
is widely accepted as a contribution to peoples communication and
cultural exchange.
And, what about user manuals, presentation, scientific papers,
articles, training material, websites, FAQ-Sections? After all,
even those fall under the category "to be read by humans"...!
That is to say, a good technical translation should be clear cut,
distinctive-, definite- and professionally written to match both, the
customer's and the recipients intentions. Clarity instead of degrading
dispassion! Basic principles of layout, user-convenience and didactics
must be considered.
Unfortunately, there is heavy cost- and time-to-market pressure
especially in the IT-industry, that sometimes cause incredible and
unbearable compromising in linguistic quality...
From my belief, hightech products deserve high-grade documentation.
It's a well-known fact, that only the comprehensible and helpful
documentation will have positive impact on a product's market success.
(otherwise...)
This higher quality can be assured only by a native speaker and
experienced writer!
When it's about English to German, Julien Thomas may
be the right expert for Your project!
Soul... Writing for a better understanding!
The foundation of my translational
work is a combination of, at least, three core competencies:
- Extensive linguistic skills, with stress on an
accurate but natural style
- Solid background knowledge, proliferated by
numerous practical tech-related jobs
- Profound, disciplined and insightful working
philosophy
I am convinced, that quality is it's own recommendation. As a german
native speaker and author, I constantly strive to supply excellent
linguistic results. For my translational work, this means transcreation
rather than literal translation. Human translation rather than MT or
CAT. Thus, my translations are written in a natural, accommodating
style, not perceptible as translated content.
Clients appreciate the clarity, reliability and the
technical competence in my translational work - and, not least, the highly competitive cost/performance ratio!
Besides, I let no deadline "rush by" up to the present
day ;-)
